1. How does UMAX.com process credit card transactions over the Internet? Do you encrypt my credit card number?

UMAX.com processes credit card transactions in real time, meaning, a customer's credit card is either approved or declined immediately. On approval, the customer's order is received and stored in UMAX.com's system. If a credit card is declined, the customer's order is never received.

While the transaction is taking place, all of the customer's information including the credit card number is encrypted through SSL (Secure Socket Layer). SSL is the standard encryption method on the Internet.

7. Do you use "cookies"?

UMAX.com places one (1) cookie on a visitor's computer. The data contained in the cookie does not store any personally indentifiable information. The data that's saved is a randomly generated number called a session ID. The cookie is only active for as long as the visitor's Internet browser is open. The cookie is removed if an inactive timeout of 60 minutes is reached. The sole purpose of this cookie is to remember a customer's shopping cart.

8. Do you use 128-bit encryption?

The entire UMAX.com web site does use 128-bit encryption. When you browse the site with the prefix, "https://" in front of the Internet address, you are accessing information that has been encrypted.

NOTE: If your Internet browser does not support 128-bit encryption, you will encounter difficulties using UMAX.com. Netscape Navigator versions 4.7 to 4.74 uses an algorythm in which UMAX.com does not support. The solution is to upgrade your Internet browser.

By default, Microsoft Windows 2000 installs a 56-bit encryption version of its Internet Explorer browser. Users must install a High-encryption Pack to support 128-bit encryption.
